The objectives

BlockWEEE evaluates the benefits of introducing blockchain technology in professional EEE/WEEE management systems. Beside the study of technological aspects, the project aims to develop a circular business model appropriate to meet waste management needs. Today, professional EEE/WEEE management systems are characterized by serious shortcomings: complex and different activities need to be monitored and several stakeholders are involved. BlockWEEE aims to develop an innovative, reliable and effective system to boost professional EEE/WEEE traceability through blockchain. In line with circular economy principles, the final goal of the project is to reduce waste production and to improve recycling performance.

Our role

Ecodom coordinates BlockWEEE activities. This means that Ecodom will control the achievement of project objectives and it will facilitate the communication among partners. Therefore, Ecodom will be the point of contact between industrial and research sectors. Furthermore, Ecodom will provide inputs about stakeholders’ needs, existing operational constraints, the economic feasibility of the proposed solutions and actual data to perform the environmental assessment of the BlockWEEE approach. The research activities and the project results will be disseminated and communicate along the entire project.
